‘American Ninja Warrior’ renewed for season 6; see Jessie Graff prepare for run
Tonight marks the season 5 finale of “American Ninja Warrior,” but before that airs on NBC there is some other good news to pass along: The network, coupled with Esquire, have officially renewed the competition show for a sixth season in what has to be the least-surprising news ever.
When you look back over the course of the summer, there was utterly no reason for NBC to make any other decision. This show has been up there with “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” as one of the most-popular shows of the summer, or at least in terms of ones not named “America’s Got Talent.” We imagine it generates a ton of revenue for the network, and also has a large cross-platform audience who watches it in a wide array of different ways. It’s part sporting event and part reality show, and there isn’t much else out there quite like it.
One of the biggest stars of this season is Jessie Graff, who has toppled many obstacles and is already considered one of the strongest women to ever compete on the show. In the video below, you can see the “Supergirl” and “Agents of SHIELD” stunt performer prepare for her National Finals Week 3 run. It’s a little window into everything that goes into the hours before a pivotal few minutes, one that make the difference between being a champion and just falling short.
Presumably, we’d expect to see the new season at some point next summer, since there is really no point in changing around a schedule that clearly already works for the series.
