‘Madam Secretary’ season 3 spoilers: How long will the election last?
At the end of “Madam Secretary” season 2, Elizabeth McCord was left with what was a rather tantalizing offer to become President Dalton’s new VP candidate. It’s an exciting offer, but at the same time getting said offer does not necessarily mean that one is going to take it. After all, you do have to remember that there are a wide array of other opportunities for her out there, and there is certainly a possibility that she can better serve the country in her role of Secretary of State.
For those of you wondering, there will be an answer to the offer in some way by the end of the premiere — but executive producer Barbara Hall tells TVLine that it’s “not simple” how the situation is resolved. The election in general will run for most of the first eight or nine episodes of the season, which means that it will be resolved not too long after the Presidential election itself wraps up — which is only a couple of months away.
Meanwhile, there is some other drama, per Hall, that you should be on the watch for as we get further and further into this season:
“There is an event that is much more personal for the McCord family that has to do with their security being breached.”
That may not be the largest tease that you’re ever going to see, but at the same time, it does a mighty-fine job of setting up that the stakes for season 3 that extend beyond just the political world. Elizabeth’s personal life will also be front and center for a few events that take their toll.
