‘Doctor Who’ season 10 could premiere in April 2017, Peter Capaldi claims
This fall, we are clearly feeling the burn of not having any “Doctor Who” on the air. As terrible as that may be, there is some good news on the horizon: Something a little closer to a season 10 premiere date!
In the Twitter video below via user Lucy Crewe, you can see star Peter Capaldi greeting fans where he is asked by one about a potential premiere date for the next batch of episodes. He comments that the Christmas Special is the next thing on the pipeline, but beyond that, we could see more new episodes in April. Who’s down for a little bit of a celebration on that?
If this date turns out to be true, it would be a pretty solid time for the show to come back on the air. The new season of “Call the Midwife” would be likely near the end on the BBC, and the network could use another scripted program to bring in the ratings. We also anticipate that by the time this comes around, they will also have aired the latest batch of “Sherlock” episodes.
In terms of specifics, the BBC has not said too much one way or another about the story of season 10. We do know that Pearl Mackie is going to be coming on board as the new Companion Bill, and that Matt Lucas is reprising his role. Beyond that the slate is fairly clean, but with this being Steven Moffat’s final full season as showrunner we get the sense that he is going to be interested in going all out to deliver the best show he can.
