‘The X Factor’ UK video: Matt Terry looks a lot like Louis Tomlinson…

In our second “X Factor” sneak peek of the day, we’re focusing on someone in Matt Terry who, per the video below, does look a substantial amount like Louis Tomlinson of One Direction. Luckily, he’s a singer in his own right.

Terry gives a pretty solid performance of “Stand By Me” below for the judges, and he has a voice that has a good bit of range to it; he also projects really well! You really get the sense that this is a guy confident in who he is and the sound of his voice, which we’ll take a million times over someone who is incredibly shy and plays that story up like nobody’s business.

If Matt does have a flaw right now, it’s that he may be selling this just a tad too hard with the facial expressions and the way he moves around during the performance. He could take all of that just a notch down, especially since he’s performing in a small room for the judges. Keep a little bit of the swag, but let the voice be the star.

Before his audition, we also get a little bit of Matt’s backstory. He’s a one-time waiter who left his job recently after having a relationship come to an end. He claims that his girlfriend broke up with him, and he’s trying to get himself back together. It certainly feels like going on a show like “The X Factor” may be a pretty darn good way to do just that.
