‘Rizzoli & Isles’ series finale: Another couple of teasers

The series finale of “Rizzoli & Isles” is coming up on TNT Monday night, and in some ways that makes for a rather emotional end of Labor Day Weekend. The summer is officially coming to a close, and with it also comes the end of one of the most popular cable series of the past several decades.

With that being said, how is the story going to conclude? We’ve got a couple of new details now courtesy of the latest TV Guide report.

1. According to executive producer Jan Nash, everyone at the Boston PD is going to throw Jane a farewell party before she heads down to her new job at Quantico. With that, they will all be recording some video tributes of sorts to her. If we get to see them, we imagine that they will be somewhat nostalgic and remind us of many years of the show.

2. There could be one final surprise still to come with Maura. Specifically, the site claims that they “wouldn’t exactly characterize it as a ‘goodbye,'” so take that however you will.

Will the show be open-ended enough for there to be something possible for these characters down the line? We’d like to think so, but at this given point in time it’s probably far too early to be getting into that. We don’t even know if it would ever happen, and the best thing to do right now is to be grateful for the seven seasons of consistent entertainment that we’ve had.
