‘Dead of Summer’ season 2: Renewal odds and more for Freeform scare-fest
The good news for fans of “Dead of Summer” is that tonight on Freeform, we could have a thrilling finale that puts to bed many of the questions that are out there for viewers. The bad news, meanwhile, is that this may be the last episode you will see for a while.
As of right now, the network has not confirmed one way or another if the show is going to be coming back for a second season; while the ratings aren’t great, you could also argue that the show’s social traffic, plus also ratings data across a larger period of time, could give it a little bit of a boost. The reality here, at least to us, is that this has been an incredibly difficult summer for almost every new show out there. They’ve had to compete against not only the typical summer struggles, such as people vacationing and not having much of a consistent schedule, but we’ve also had a contentious Presidential election and also the Olympics.
With all of this in mind, we’d like to see the show get another season to explore a little more history and mythology. The plan here seems to be to bounce around to different summers rather than necessarily telling a story that continues everything that we see during Tuesday’s finale. The benefit that could come with that is that it would allow viewers who didn’t necessarily follow this season to be able to dive in and enjoy it whenever they do decide to start watching.
Do you think that “Dead of Summer” should be renewed for a season 2? Be sure to vote in the attached poll! While it may not help Freeform’s decision, it is a nice way to gauge fan enthusiasm.
