‘The Fosters’ season 4, episode 10 (summer finale) video: Mariana’s struggles continue

Monday night’s new episode of “The Fosters” will mark the summer finale for the show, and it’s fair to say that for many characters, we could see their stories coming to a head. That may be especially true for the character of Mariana, who is currently struggling to balance out her recent interest in robotics, her other schoolwork, and then also a complicated personal life that includes drama with Mat and Nick.

The sneak peek below simplifies things slightly in focusing primarily on her in school, and how she is clearly continuing to struggle when it comes to her grades there. She receives a less-than-favorable review on her paper from her teacher, and his given a little bit of time to work on it.

Here’s where things get difficult: Mariana has been taking in secret some of Jesus’ medication, which has given her a temporary boost. Unfortunately for her, “temporary” really is the operating word there since sooner or later, using this is going to come back to bite her in a pretty significant way. At this moment, we’re mostly just waiting to see that other shoe drop since we assume it has to sooner rather than later.

One thing that we can confirm, per the Freeform press materials out there about the summer finale, is that eventually Nick will play a role in the events at the end of the episode, which could cause Mariana to go missing. How things unfold from there could put the show in an interesting position moving into the second half of the season.
