MTV VMAs 2016: Drake, Fifth Harmony among early winners
Tonight, the VMAs are going to be airing in full on MTV, but before the show even started, we saw the network handing out its first famous trophy! You can see the results of that below, but rest assured there’ll be a whole lot more over the course of the night. We’ll be back with more updates as the show goes on!
Song of the Summer – Fifth Harmony, “All in My Head.” Given that these ladies first started on a show we cover in “The X Factor,” we certainly know their story more so than many other artists at the VMAs. Heck, we remember back when they were briefly called Lylas.
Best Hip-Hop Video – Drake, “Hotline Bling.” Hey, it inspired a TON of parodies out there.
Best Male Video – Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna, “This Is What You Came For.”
Best Direction, Cinematography, Choreography, and Editing – Beyonce, “Formation.” Given the success of “Lemonade,” can you really be that shocked by this? You really shouldn’t be.
Best Collaboration – Fifth Harmony ft. Ty Dollar Sign, “Work From Home.”
Best Female Video – Beyonce, “Hold Up.”
Best New Artist – DNCE. This was a big night for the Jonas family. Joe is a part of this group, while his brother Nick performed on the night.
Video of the Year – Beyonce, “Formation.” Kanye West almost predicted this when he said that he was more than fine losing to her. Given her domination on the night, this was the end we all saw coming.
