MTV VMAs 2016: Beyonce — and Blue Ivy — take center stage on red carpet

Tonight, the MTV VMAs are coming to the network, but one particular star has managed to take center stage before they even officially begin: Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy.

In a mere matter of minutes, the child was trending worldwide on Twitter after she arrived on the red carpet with her mother. This news followed the sudden announcement that Beyonce was performing tonight, which is in itself news that will create all sorts of buzz. She’s one of the top stars in music, and we saw with “Lemonade” how anything that she does has the potential to completely stop social media in its tracks.

Perhaps the biggest thing that surprises us here is that it was a celebrity child who has quickly become the go-to conversation starter on the red carpet, and this is an awards show where often the extreme is what is highlighted more so than anything else. Just look at Lady Gaga’s meat dress, or some particularly revealing outfits that have been worn by some stars over the years.

With Beyonce now on the lineup, and with Kanye West being given four minutes or order to do effectively whatever he wants with, we imagine that there is suddenly more of an air of mystery than ever about this show. We’re definitely excited to see what is going to come up over the course of the night; rest assured, there will be plenty of time to talk about it all!
