‘Dancing with the Stars 23’ spoilers: Derek Hough will return; Julianne Hough to judge
Talk about a turnaround! While it was previously reported that Derek Hough would not be a part of the 23rd season of “Dancing with the Stars” this fall, it appears that some circumstances have changed and after sitting out the spring season, he’s going to be back in action as a pro. Meanwhile, his sister Julianne is also going to return to a position that she has also held previously: Judge.
Speaking to E! News, Derek cites a change in his schedule (he was going to be a part of a production of “Singin’ in the Rain,” but that has been delayed) as one of the reasons why he is able to take part:
“It frees me up to do some other things too, so it’s kind of fun … Broadway’s one of my plans, it’s in my cards, it’s happening, but right now it’s leaving me open. Plans change a little bit, so now I have some time to create some fun opportunities, some fun things, including Hairspray.”
It seems that Derek will be able to balance the ballroom competition and the “Hairspray Live” gig, which is going to air on NBC most likely in December.
As for Julianne, her presence should help ease some uncertainty as to whether or not Len Goodman will be back. He has in the past sat out / taken weeks off the show due to his travel commitments to Britain, and with him planning to depart “Strictly Come Dancing” at the end of this coming season, he may want to devote his time to the BBC show first and foremost.
