Jon Stewart set to grace final ‘The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore’

Nightly Show -The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” may be ending on Comedy Central tonight, but the show is making sure at least that it goes out with a bang.

Today, the show announced on Twitter that former “The Daily Show” host with Jon Stewart is going to be one of his final guests. In a funny way, it feels almost like Jon appears solely on his former correspondents’ late-night shows and few others. His last notable appearance was on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” earlier this summer, one where he delivered a passionate, news-making diatribe against some of the participants of the Republican National Convention.

We will do our part to have more coverage of the final “Nightly Show” over the coming days, but our general consensus for the most part is that we will miss the show. It was timely, topical, and above all funny. The problem was just that, for one reason or another, it didn’t connect with viewers at the network. We will continue to express disappointment over the choice to end the show now, especially in the heat of an election season … especially when Wilmore and company could have been given until the end of the year.

The other sad part of this equation is that for now, there doesn’t appear to be any real battle plan for what to do with this timeslot. Who do you hire? Many of the former correspondents already have shows, so you may need to go outside of the “Daily Show” family and figure out if there is anyone else out there that you can bring on and have them work. Jessica Williams would be our #1 choice, but she’s already developing other things.
