TV Quick Hits: ‘Shadowhunters’ season 2, ‘Shameless’ season 7 scoop; ‘Castle’ alum joins ‘The Real O’Neals’

“Shadowhunters” season 2 casting scoop – This edition of TV Quick Hits (and the second one of the day, no less) is all about casting.

Let us begin with the news that per Deadline, Nick Sagar of “The Haves and Have Nots”) has signed up for the Freeform drama in a recurring role. his part is Victor Aldertree, a Clave Representative with plenty of charm and also some mystery. Following what happened with Jace and Valentine, he’ll be turning up at the New York Institute. The second season should premiere in the new year, and expectations are high thanks to the buzz from the fans and of course the Cassandra Clare source material.

Susan Sullivan lands new role – Following a lengthy turn on “Castle” as the title character’s mother Martha, TVLine reports that the actress will guest-star on an upcoming episode of “The Real O’Neals” as the mother of another character in Vice Principal Murray.

What’s especially notable here to us is that Sullivan joins Nathan Fillion, Karen David, and Mallory Jansen in the group of actors from recently-canceled shows to get other gigs on the network. If there was ever a network proving that it takes care of its own, this is it.

“Shameless” scoop – Finally, Deadline reports that actor Zack Pearlman (“The Intern”) will be appearing on the show as the disabled brother of Sierra, someone who suffers from a brain injury that causes him to have symptoms similar to Tourette’s. The seventh season of the series premieres this fall.
