MTV’s ‘Scream’ season 3: Renewal odds and hopes for more

Scream -Tonight on MTV, the network is closing the door on the second season of “Scream” with a finale that will hopefully provide some answers. Most of the promotional material out there has hyped up a big reveal. In theory, it’s possible that we will learn the identity of the killer. However, at the same time, that doesn’t mean that the entire story is tied up in a neat little bow at all. There is still a perfectly good chance that a few other mysteries will surface as a result of this, and we could have a good cliffhanger for a season 3.

As for whether or not a season 3 will happen, that is an entirely different story.

The biggest thing working against the show’s renewal odds are the ratings, which are far from great. MTV didn’t do the show any favors by starting out the season in a weird timeslot, but it doesn’t matter so much what the reason for the ratings are so much as what they are. Networks don’t have a tendency to be sympathetic or caring.

Ultimately, there are a couple of things you can do if you do want to improve the show’s renewal odds in any way possible:

1. Watch the finale live – Advertiser income is what keeps the lights on over at MTV, so there is no substitute to actually sitting down on Tuesday night and checking out the show. Cancel other plans!

2. Support the show in as many ways as possible – This includes tweeting about it, watching videos of it on the YouTube channel, and really working to drive discussion to it. In the modern age, having a large social footprint can help to save a show, especially since there are some non-traditional ways for the network to make money these days.
