‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13: Expect more Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson in the spotlight

Grey's AnatomyThe thirteenth season of “Grey’s Anatomy” is coming to ABC this fall, and with the big premiere is apparently going to come a slightly different focus. While many of the newer characters on the series are interesting and have some compelling stories to tell, at the same time it appears that the main priority for the show now is focusing in some of the characters we’ve already come to know and love, and allow more of their own stories to be told.

This is something that ironically one of the more-recent actors in Kelly McCreary detailed further in a new interview with TV Guide:

“After such a long period of time and so many new people coming in and out, they remain the foundational characters of the show … We’re gonna be spending some more time with them to check in with where they are. The way that we spent time with Meredith last season, exploring the major shift in her life, the loss of Derek, I think we can expect to see those doctors being explored where they are in this moment, all these years later, the changes that they’ve gone through.”

With this in mind, we’d say that it feels pretty clear that the likes of Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Chandra Wilson will get a tremendous amount of time in the spotlight. We’re certainly excited about that, since we do want to continue to feel that we’re building towards something. We don’t think the show is ending anytime soon, but we do want to feel like whenever it does end that we’ve gotten the full extent of every single journey possible.
