Tonight, “Ink Master” gave us an episode that really emphasized detail. The remaining artists had to tackle hourglass designs, and this one really proved just how much value there still is in winning the skull pick. It may not always matter, but in this case the members of Team Nunez really suffered after losing the Flash Challenge.
So where is the show going moving into next week’s episode? Well, we’re going to be seeing plenty more drama, and a lot of it could be coming out of the rivalry between the women’s alliance and some of the guys in the house. Many of the men on Team Peck tried to target some of the women on Team Nunez, but that didn’t quite work out as planned. Now, some of the ladies are out for revenge.
While the women’s alliance as a narrative concept is a particularly strong one, we see this as more of a case of tattoo strength rather than just the battle of the sexes. The women this season just so happen to be particularly strong, and their ability in terms of great tattoos matters more than anything else. Sure, alliances can screw with other players in terms of giving them difficult tattoos, but sometimes artists can rise from the ashes after getting this sort of challenge. They look at it as a form of motivation, and they want to stick it to you as a result.
Based on what we saw tonight, several of the remaining women are certainly motivated to take the guys down a peg — we’ll just have to see now if that happens.
