Is ‘America’s Got Talent’ new tonight on NBC? Tape Face, Jon Dorenbos, Steven Brundage top hopefuls

AGT -Let’s go ahead and kick off this “America’s Got Talent” article with an oh-so-simple reminder that there is no new episode airing on NBC tonight for the second straight week. The reasoning for that remains fairly simple: The Olympics are still going! This is the big ratings draw for the network for the time being, and they figure (smartly so) that the majority of “AGT” viewers will come back once it is over.

For the sake of this article, what we want to do mostly is identify who some of the potential favorites are going to be the rest of the way this season, at least out of the people who have advanced so far. We’ve specifically identified five acts who we feel have a legitimate shot at winning, regardless of who ends up advancing out of the third show.

Laura Bretan – While we think it’s somewhat of a longshot given that not even Jackie Evancho ended up winning her season, we do think that Laura will deservedly get a ton of votes based on the quality of her voice.

The Clairvoyants – Magic is hot right now, especially in this competition. What they do is a different spin on magic than anyone else in the competition, and they are polished and professional like nobody’s business.

Tape Face – Maybe he’s the darkhorse at the moment, but he is probably our personal favorite. He has an element of what Paul Zerdin had last year that helped him win: Audience participation. He takes his time, and knows how to milk an audience. Don’t underestimate those who vote for him based solely on uniqueness.

Steven Brundage – Remember what we said about magic? Well, it applies here, and we think it’d be a really fun story if a guy who wasn’t even initially put through to the live shows ends up winning.

Jon Dorenbos – While there’s a chance that he, Steven, and other magicians cancel each other out, the success of Mat Franco proves that these acts can win. Also, Jon’s got a lot of Philadelphia Eagles fans as a voting block. We’ve seen how effective that can be on “Dancing with the Stars.”
