It’s been rather nice to have so many new episodes of “The Night Shift” to enjoy over the past several weeks, but eventually of course the good news have to end … and they are for a couple of weeks. As we discussed briefly earlier, there is no new episode of the NBC drama airing tonight, with the reasoning for that being rather simple: It’s all a matter of scheduling. The Olympics are on tonight on the network, and even if the show aired on another episode, we’re still not sure it would be a good idea to air it.
Look at this way: When you’ve got a show that is still very much on the bubble in terms of whether or not it is coming back for another season, do you really want to do anything to potentially hurt the audience? We don’t think so, even if a two-week hiatus is somewhat painful.
When the show does return on August 24, it will be with the first part of the two-part finale, one that is going to feature Scott and Jordan in an extremely dangerous position thanks to a wildfire, while at the same time Jennifer Beals will return as Syd will she and TC cope with a humanitarian crisis on the Turkey – Syria border.
Elsewhere, be prepared for an issue to jeopardize Brianna’s adoption, while Topher looks for a potential buyer for the hospital. Much of these stories will carry over into the second part of the finale on August 31; have your handkerchiefs ready and prepare for an emotional saga that brings us to the end of the season.
