TV Friendships: On ‘The Flash’ season 3 and our hopes for Cisco, Caitlin

Caitlin -As a viewer of “The Flash,” there are many different relationships that you can smile about. Yet, to us Cisco and Caitlin remain a natural favorite. They’ve got a really wonderful rapport, they challenge each other, and at the same time, they’ve also shown time and time again that they are a big reason why the team at STAR Labs stays together and gets work done. Hopefully, we’ll continue to see them in that capacity for many years to come.

So what’s coming up in the near future? That’s something we want to spotlight more of in the latest chapter of our TV Friendships series today.

Where we left off – These two are still alive, and for the time being have been handed some sort of relatively reprieve with the downfall of Zoom … at least before Barry initiated Flashpoint by going back in time and saving his mother. As a result of that, the entire landscape of the show is shaken, but if things continued where they were before that, we’d assume that their friendship was in a pretty good place.

Where they could go from here – For one, we hope that the show avoids the idea of pairing them up romantically … at least for the time being. Caitlin’s already had a good four seasons’ worth of romantic subplots. We’d like to see them be even more active in becoming heroes, just as we’d also like to see more of the journey for Caitlin towards becoming Killer Frost. If that starts up soon, maybe we could see Caitlin serve as a little bit of a superhero mentor, helping her get through the early phases of it as someone who just recently experienced some of that himself. We’re assuming that their Flashpoint relationship will be somewhat different, so that’s not something that we want to focus on given that this part of the world is far from permanent.
