As many fans of “NCIS” may know already, season 14 has already started to film, and there are many changes that you are going to be seeing to go along with that. Michael Weatherly is gone, and in his place Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito are going to become series regulars. Meanwhile, Duane Henry has also been promoted after a couple of appearances near the end of this past season as Clayton Reeves.
Now, we’re at the point where we have to ask the following question: When are we going to have a chance to see some of the first footage of these cast members in action? Hopefully, we’re talking about it being a matter of weeks.
Last season, the first promo was released close to the end of August, and that video showed the aftermath of Gibbs being shot and also the first appearance of Jon Cryer as Dr. Cyril Taft, a character who we hope returns at some point over the course of season 14. For now, though, his status is unclear.
We don’t think that there is a cliffhanger anywhere near as big this time around with the show, so with that the main priority with the first promo will be trying to introduce some of these characters and what they bring to the table. While we’re definitely going to miss Weatherly’s presence on the show, the reality here is still that the show must go on. Plus, who knows? If the series lasts long enough, it’s certainly possible that Tony could turn up again in some sort of milestone episode.
