TV Quick Hits: ‘Lucifer’ season 2 scoop; ‘Coupled’ canceled; Regina King to direct ‘Pitch’ episode

“Lucifer” books Michael Imperioli – The second season of the Fox supernatural series just got all the more interesting.

While at the TCA Summer Press Tour on Monday, the show’s producers confirmed that Imperioli, who has appeared on a wide array of different shows over the past few years, will play a major part in season 2 as a new brother of the title character (Tom Ellis) and Amenadiel (DB Woodside). It’s exciting news, and it is one of many changes that the show has in store for the new season. After all, we’ve already learned that Tricia Helfer is going to be a major part of the season as Lucifer’s mother; meanwhile, “Dexter” and “Rush Hour” alumni Aimee Garcia also has a major part to play.

As for some other news of the day.

“Coupled” canceled by Fox – Given the ratings for the series, there is absolutely no shock value that it’s ending. Still, it is yet another example of a failed reality TV dating concept, and “The Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss seemed almost to relish in its downfall in a post on Twitter.

Tell us how you really feel, Mike…

Regina King to direct “Pitch” – Per TV Guide, the “American Crime” and “The Leftovers” actress will take on the fourth episode of the new Fox baseball series; she had the following to say about it per the website:

“I’m excited … I think the thing that’s that very cool is that it’s baseball… It’s my first time directing something sports based. I think it might be interesting to see a female director’s perspective on telling that story.”
