‘Devious Maids’ season 5: Show boss on that Marisol cliffhanger
The fourth season of “Devious Maids” came to a close on Lifetime Monday night, and it did so with many different key events. We learned about the true culprit in Peri’s death, Evelyn and Adrian took a step back and a step forward, and right before her wedding, Marisol was kidnapped! Consider this your big season 5 cliffhanger, even if we don’t know for certain that the series is even coming back just yet.
Speaking to TVLine in a postmortem for tonight’s episode, executive producer Sabrina Wind made it clear that Marisol’s kidnapping is meant to be the starting-off point for everything:
“It will launch us into the new season. We have many thoughts of what it all means, but we have to wait to talk to Lifetime about them. It will be a completely new story.”
We hope that the fifth season does happen so that this is resolved, but also to give us the next step in many other characters’ lives. Thanks to a potential time jump, it should work a little in the show’s favor to be able to start off with a clean slate once more. That probably won’t last for long.
Ultimately, we assume that Lifetime will make a decision on the future of the series over the next few months, if for no other reason than that this gives the writers a little bit of time to ponder the future and prepare for it.
