‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7 spoilers: What to make of the latest casting

PLL -

The folks over at “Pretty Little Liars” do love to be mysterious with their casting, but even for them, this one really is starting to rack our brain.

Per a new report from Deadline, Ava Allen (“The Middle”) is set to appear in the second half of this season as Addison, a young woman who is described as being a manipulative, entitled bully who is currently a high school student.

The most interesting thing about this role is the fact that she is still in high school, given that are present core group has already graduated and are many years removed from it. Why in the world would we be going back? There are a couple of possibilities we can think of…

  1. Maybe this character is someone the Liars have to track down because of her connection to a pressing matter at hand. Forcing these characters to return to their old stomping ground in Rosewood may in turn be an interesting way to explore more of their shared past.
  2. We also imagine that this character could be some sort of way to introduce the high school world once more in the event that Freeform wanted to extend the franchise. They haven’t said anything about either a spin-off or “new generation,” but we have to assume that this is something they would look at. Note that this has not been confirmed by any means, and we are just speculating on what the future could hold.

The next new episode of “Pretty Little Liars” should be coming to you on Tuesday night. Stay tuned for more of the latest insight.
