‘Ballers’ season 2, episode 5 preview: What lies ahead for Ricky and Charles?

On Sunday night’s new episode of “Ballers,” we saw a little bit of comedy … and also plenty of important drama as the show starts to push more towards whatever its season 2 endgame is.

For starters, we’re going to see Ricky try to push Charles into what could be another big phase of his life. Charles was cut by the Dolphins after signing a new right tackle, and for the time being that puts his career in limbo. While he’s good enough to be able to play somewhere, there’s no guarantee that will happen. Still, Ricky’s going to encourage him to try to stand up for himself, while at the same time dealing with a big career decision himself. To go along with that, the return of someone from his past is going to come back in a huge way over the course of the episode.

As for what is going on with Spencer, be prepared to see some of him with Travis, who we saw a little bit tonight with Jason as he tried to secure him as a client. We can describe this best as “swamp adventures.”

Finally, we’re going to see Reggie and Joe try to do something big in order to impress / cheer up Vernon, who is still feeling the hurt after the literal hurt that is causing him to miss much of the season. In general, there’s going to be a lot going on in here, and we imagine that a big part of that is going to be between Spencer and Andre.
