‘Mr. Robot’ season 2, episode 5 video: Fears, wants, Elliot’s new conflict

In just under 24 hours the latest episode of “Mr. Robot” will arrive, and we suppose with it will come more questions about who Elliot Alderson really wants to be, and what he wants to do to combat the swirling world around him.

You have to remember at this point that this is not a man just having yet another existential crisis, or battling his other half, the father that lives inside his head. Instead, this is a man who just made a decision to hack a government agency, who has basically come back into an addiction in the biggest and most unhealthy way possible. Getting back in the game this way could only lead to trouble.

Here’s one thing that we will say entered our mind as we were watching this: We’re honestly surprised that the show has not been spoofed more than it has to date, given that in terms of style and substance it is so different than anything else on TV. Maybe it is partially damaged by the notion that it airs in the summer, since we’d love to see “Saturday Night Live” or another show write up something using similar dialogue and the famous camera angles.

If you want a few other teases for Wednesday night, consider the following: Dominique will be heading halfway around the world to China, Darlene is going to look up Angela for help (Elliot may question getting her involved), and you can expect some developments for Joanna. All in all, it should be eventful once more. For those wondering about scheduling, expect this episode to run just over ten minutes past 11:00 p.m. Eastern. It’s a little shorter than last week’s.
