Given that the eighth season of “The Vampire Diaries” is going to be the show’s last, we certainly do assume that there will be many familiar faces who turn up over the course of it to help say farewell to what has been an institution. Today, we’ve got the first name to officially add to the board.
Per a report from TVLine, Tristin Mays is the first confirmed major player aside from the core cast to return. As for what exactly Sarah Salvatore will be up to within the world of Mystic Falls and beyond, that remains to be seen.
As a whole, we do know that there are many characters in need of something, whether it be healing, support, or simply a reality check. Given what happened to Damon at the end of season 8, he may very well need all three. This is a show where we definitely expect that there are going to be some major hurdles ahead for many of the characters, and that is something that we’re going to watch out for and cover perhaps most extensively. After all, we do like to think that there is some sort of desired endgame that many characters would like to reach, and the same goes for the fans. For example, do you really want to see the show end with Damon or Stefan in complete misery?
As we suggested, we’re sure that Mays is probably the first of many former recurring players and cast members to return to the series for the final season. We’re assuming there will be further news to announce over the coming weeks.
