TV Quick Hits: ‘Rectify’ season 4 premiere date; ‘Lethal Weapon’ casting; Jon Stewart – HBO plans

What’s next for Jon Stewart? – We know ever since the end of his version of “The Daily Show” that there have been questions about his future. We also know that there is a deal between him and HBO. What will this turn into? We’re happy to have a few more details about that now courtesy of the network’s recent appearance at the TCA Summer Press Tour.

Speaking (per Deadline), HBO’s programming head Casey Bloys made it clear that Stewart’s latest effort could come as early as this fall, and it could be  “an animated parody of a cable news network. It’s Onion-like, with video and text. It’s very much Jon’s voice and tone.” There could be further collaborations between Jon and the network in the future.

“Rectify” gets a final season premiere date – Speaking of TCA, SundanceTV announced today at the tour that the fourth (and final) season of their critically-acclaimed drama will be premiering on October 26 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Mark your calendars appropriately.

“Lethal Weapon” casting – Jason Derulo is already a part of the Fox family as a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance,” and now he had landed yet another role to go along with it. Per Entertainment Weekly, the singer will appear on “Lethal Weapon” as Ronald Dawson, who is described as an up-and-coming boxer with a little bit of a reputation as a hard-partier. He likes to show off his physique and his smile, and it is pretty easy to assume based on this that he will be quite the ladies’ man. His episode will reportedly air on September 28.
