‘Chicago Fire’ season 5: When is the 100th episode coming?

Chicago Fire -Can you believe that the 100th episode of “Chicago Fire” is coming? It’s hard to think about in so many ways, but at the same time true. Time has really blown by, and we mean that even when you consider that the show has already launched two other spin-offs in “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med,” and one of those in turn as launched “Chicago Justice” for midseason.

In a post on Twitter, co-creator Derek Haas confirms that the team behind-the-scenes has at least started the process of piecing together this milestone 100th episode, and conveniently, it will have another purpose on the coming season, as well: The winter finale. That means that there will only be eight episodes airing this fall, and that this season is mostly back-loaded for the new year and beyond.

While that may sound strange when you first think about it, be sure to also consider this: It’s not all that different from last year, when there were only nine episodes that aired in the first half of the season. Given that you do have “Justice” in the new year, it makes sense to still have more than 13 episodes coming up for “Fire” just in case you do want to do some crossovers there. Ultimately, we would assume that you would want to take advantage of as many different shows being on the air as possible.

Also, we admit that there is a part of us that is thinking about what a five-part crossover could look like between these shows and “Law & Order: SVU.” Our head is currently spinning, so we can only imagine the challenge it would present for the writers should they decide to do that.
