This has been a big week for “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” given that Netflix has not only released a full trailer for the revival, but they’ve also announced a premiere date.
Now, why not discuss just how much one notable actor is going to be on the show? Jared Padalecki was a huge part of the original as Dean for many seasons, and we know that the idea of him being around Rory (Alexis Biedel) is definitely interesting. Unfortunately, if he is around, it’s not going to be for very long.
Speaking to Zap2It, Jared admits that he was only available to film for one day. “Supernatural” was currently shooting at the same time that the Netflix revival was earlier this year, so with that it was not really possible for him to come back and do more. He was hoping originally to be a larger part of it, but schedules just couldn’t work out.
With this in mind, you’re probably going to get only a few minutes of Dean in the revival, but we suppose that is better than just about nothing. It’s a similar situation to what we could have with Melissa McCarthy and her character of Sookie, given that she only had a tiny window of time in which she was available, but creator Amy Sherman-Palladino managed to eventually bring her on board after some initial confusion.
Hopefully, all of these cameos will live up to the expectations in our head when the four episodes of “A Year in the Life” debut this fall.
