‘The Last Ship’ season 3, episode 8 video: Dealing with death

Chandler -The third season of “The Last Ship” has really been a bloodbath, and we do have to give a certain degree of credit to the writers for being so bold with it. Few other shows, other than maybe “Game of Thrones,” would be so willing to completely decimate such a huge percentage of their cast in such a short period of time. Yet, they’ve done it here, and that has to be commended to a certain extent from the vantage point of bravery.

Now that we’ve said that, we have to forge ahead following the latest shocker this season: The death of President Michener, in particular via the way in which it happened. His death came at a time of mounting pressure and pain, and with so many others ready to throttle him. Preserving his memory will be a part of the story in one shape or form, but the same can also be said for trying to figure out what’s next. After all, this is a world where there is not an extreme amount of time in which anyone can slow down.

While the country mourns, Chandler’s also going to have his work cut out for him in this episode analyzing and trying to understand a possible virus mutation. This could be the key to understanding a great deal of the circumstances at the center of this season, and what makes this so powerful in many ways is how it is directly related to another major death in Rachel’s. Losing someone this talented does cause the landscape to be shifted, and you have to wonder what things could have otherwise been had she still been present.

We will have more on this episode soon; for now, take a look at the attached promo.
