‘Saturday Night Live’ video: See Colin Jost, Michael Che go for laughs at Democratic National Convention

SNL -If you missed it, we recently talked about the video that “Saturday Night Live’s” own “Weekend Update” anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che put out at the Republican National Convention, and it was for the most part funny. However, there was something about it that just didn’t work, whether it be the reaction in the room or the ideas that were funny in premise but off in execution.

For whatever reason, we think that their latest video, which was filmed for MSNBC while at the Democratic National Convention, was significantly funnier from start to bottom and it is really not even close. What this video does better almost right away is gives you a much better reaction from the crew members. Maybe there are different people working, or maybe they’re just mic’ed up better. Either way, they add another dose of energy to this.

Also, even Jost and Che seem more active and engaged. (Maybe it’s because they’re wearing more or less the same outfit?) Che’s run on the crying “white women” at the convention, many of whom are presumably Bernie Sanders supporters, proved to be hysterical. Meanwhile, Josh managed to slip in a joke here that he’s been waiting to use for some time.

There was no special appearance by a correspondent a.k.a. cast member during this segment, but Che and Jost did something else that was rather funny in its own right, doing a piece where the two of them went down on the street and handed out water bottles bearing Donald Trump’s face. Let’s just say that there were not a wide array of people super-excited to have these in their possession.
