‘NCIS’ season 14: Wilmer Valderrama on cast shakeups
The fourteenth season of “NCIS” is months away from coming on the air, and one thing we are certainly intrigued about is the addition of Wilmer Valderrama. We’ve been a fan of his past work, so hearing of his casting this summer has been a nice little spark to a show that we were certainly concerned about in the wake of Michael Weatherly’s departure.
Ultimately, it does seem like we are looking at a slightly-different version of the show when it returns to CBS a little bit later this year. Speaking to TVLine while at San Diego Comic-Con, Valderrama teased the following when it comes to precisely what the structure of the story coming up this season could be:
“The dynamic of the show has definitely evolved into something else … Some of the new characters that are coming in are channeling something else and challenging the genre. We’re doing things that are very different than the fans haven’t seen before.”
Valderrama also suggested that he was really enjoying his time with Mark Harmon, and claimed that the actors are doing a good job of “challenging” each other while working on the show. This is great news in how it could set the stage for a great back-and-forth for episodes to come. This is something that Gibbs and Tony had for many years, and it is a void that could be filled.
Wilmer is not the only new cast member coming on the show this season. Jennifer Esposito is replacing Sarah Clarke (who guest-starred on the show last spring), and recent guest star Duane Henry has been promoted to series regular.
