TV Quick Hits: Laura Benanti as Melania Trump; ‘Lucifer’ season 2 photo; ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ renewed
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” coming back for more – In the wake of some Emmy love, we really cannot say that we’re surprised about the latest decision from Logo: After all, why wouldn’t they want more of the show on the air?
The network has officially renewed the competition series, which has become a staple over the past several years, for its ninth season. This announcement comes at a time in which we’re gearing up for the second All-Stars season, which is taking place on Thursday, August 25.
Want some other news from the day? Stay tuned…
Laura Benanti does Melania Trump – In the wake of drama regarding plagiarism in her Republican National Convention speech, stage / TV star Laura Benanti appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” last night offering up her take … while also plagiarizing a bunch of other things. It’s worthy of at least a few laughs.
As we are writing this, an aide to Donald Trump’s campaign has come forward claiming responsibility for the comparisons between Melania’s speech and Michelle Obama’s. She also offered to resign from the campaign, but it was in turn denied.
“Lucifer” promotion – Get ready to see a whole lot of Tricia Helfer on this coming season! Per TVLine, it has now been confirmed that the “Battlestar Galactica” alum will be a series regular on the show, playing the part of the title character’s mother.
If you have not seen the first photo of her at present, you can do so below. It doesn’t exactly give away much, but it does set the table for what is going to be a rather eventful season for our title character, played by Tom Ellis.
