‘The Catch’ season 2 books ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum T.R. Knight in mystery role

For those of you who have long awaited the return of T.R. Knight to Shondaland, wait no more! The former “Grey’s Anatomy” star has signed up to appear in season 2 of “The Catch” per Entertainment Weekly, though for the time being a description of his role is hard to come by.

What we can give you are a series of statements showing how excited many parties are to have Knight back on board for what is hopefully going to be a very happy reunion, and a possible precursor to some great stuff still to come.

Allan Heinberg, “The Catch” executive producer – “Shonda, Betsy, and I are beyond excited to have T.R. back in the Shondaland family — and on The Catch in a role the was created and written especially for him.”

Shonda Rhines, executive producer of all things Shondaland – “This has been a thrilling secret to keep! One of my favorite family members is home!”

Knight – “Working with Shonda, Betsy [Beers], and Allan again fills me with immense joy. I am heartened to be returning to Shondaland and excited to work with this exceptional cast!”

There are several different benefits to this depending on who you are. For Knight (who recently was a part of “The Good Wife”), it’s a place to go back to a world where he was very much beloved. Meanwhile, “The Catch” gets the benefit of his casting, and some added publicity it probably needs. While the show scored a season 2 renewal, its ratings were lower than any other program in Shondaland and many of the reviews for season 1 were mixed. Maybe, Knight will provide a boost.
