‘Power’ renewed for seasons 4 and 5 by Starz

It clearly did not take Starz very long at all to cement the future of “Power” on their network. After all, how else do you explain the fact that there is now a two-season renewal in the books?

The network announced the decision on Tuesday, two days after the season 3 premiere and one day after it was reported that the show broke records in total viewers. Giving a show a fourth and fifth season allows showrunner Courtney Kemp the opportunity to really plan ahead, and think about the direction she wants to take the show as it eventually nears the end of the road. We’re certainly not saying that season 5 will be the end, but at this point, the writers may start thinking more with that in mind.

In addition to this announcement, star and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson had the following to say about the show coming back:

“I knew Power was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with Mark Canton. The fans support for the show has been the driving force of its success and I can’t wait to bring them two more seasons full of action and suspense.”

To us, perhaps the most impressive thing about “Power” is the amount of growth that it has taken as a network. The show started out as a little bit of an under-the-radar series beyond 50 Cent’s star power, but since that time it has expanded its audience and in the process garnered some pretty significant critical acclaim.
