Through two episodes, “The Night Of” has certainly brought some compelling storytelling to the table; we’ve had the murder of Andrea, the early stages of the investigation, and also the early efforts of attorney John Stone to try and help Nasir. So far, it has shown to be a relatively difficult experience for him since he’s dealing with someone who is in his eyes completely green to this system. He doesn’t know the ins and outs, and therefore he is having to try to work things out with him on the fly.
Unfortunately for Naz, things are going to be all the more difficult moving into next week’s “A Dark Crate.” After all, the synopsis below (via TV Guide) suggests that we are seeing him in a completely different and distressing situation:
“Naz waits to be arraigned at Rikers Island, where a particular inmate is crucial to his fate.”
Even if you are not familiar with New York, Rikers Island is probably a locale you’ve heard of. It’s infamous in so many ways, and it could be the most dangerous experience of his entire life. Hopefully, somewhere along the way Stone is going to be able to make more of a case. He tried his best to have bail granted tonight to no avail, but at least in the process we saw his grasp of the law and perhaps more of his authority than we have seen to date. The promo below offers up a little more in terms of what’s coming next.
