‘Preacher’ episode 9 preview: Can Jesse survive in ‘Finish the Song’?
We are only two episodes away now from the end of “Preacher” on AMC, but one thing certainly feels clear: Jesse Custer is in danger, perhaps more so than he has ever been. His powers, and his subsequent actions, are coming home to roost, and this is something that he is going to have to wrangle over the course of the rest of the season.
The title for the next installment is “Finish the Song,” and while the TV Guide synopsis does not reveal much, we do at least think that it gives you a reasonable idea as to what is going to be coming up:
“Jesse is on the run, while those around him face life-altering decisions. Meanwhile, the Cowboy returns to Ratwater to exact his revenge.”
With the Cowboy returning and also with Preacher in a very different position, we feel like we’re about to get the entire structure of the show rocked in one way or another. It’s possible that season 2 could look incredibly different from season 1, but that is something that we’ll get a further chance to check out over the course of the weeks ahead and even at San Diego Comic-Con soon. We could see the death of characters, or we could see a fundamental shift in how Jesse identifies himself.
Regardless of what happens over the final episodes, there is one thing we certainly expect: Pure insanity. This is a show that celebrates and embraces the crazy, and has done it many times over now.
