Over the past few years the Disney Channel has done specifically a great job of twisting existing properties into new hits. For example, “Girl Meets World” capitalized heavily on the love and nostalgia of the original “Boy Meets World,” and with “Descendants,” they managed to utilize a rather interesting concept to great success: What if iconic Disney villains had children? What would they be like?
If you’re reading this article, you already have a good sense as to how big of a commercial success the original movie and some of its spin-off properties have been. Dove Cameron (MAl), Sofia Carson (Evie), Booboo Stewart (Jay), and Cameron Boyce (Carlos) have all expanded their own presence thanks to the property, and the much-anticipated sequel is something that is already generating a ton of discussion.
For the time being, though, the House of Mouse is being coy about what’s coming up — other than that Ursula’s daughter is going to be one of the key players. One of the first teasers below (thanks to TVLine for the discovery) hypes up specifically the character Uma, played in the TV movie by China Anne McClaine. Given who she is related to, her capacity for causing trouble is already extremely well-noted.
Also, the new logo art for the sequel does a great job of setting out to do precisely what you would expect: Adding the tentacle onto the number 2 is very simple, but effective when it comes to giving you even the slightest visual reminder of what is coming up.
