‘The X Factor’ UK: Dermot O’Leary reportedly signs massive deal to remain host

The latest news -Apparently, “The X Factor” does not want to risk another hosting carousel like they had last year. Dermot O’Leary was already confirmed that he will be on this present season, and now we’re hearing that he has a new four-year deal in place that will make him one of the highest-paid presenters on British television. Specifically, we’re talking here to the tune of 8 million pounds ($10.59 million dollars) over the course of four years.

Speaking to The Sun, here is what a source had to say on the matter:

“It’s completely unheard of for one presenter to be paid £8million to host one show … There hasn’t been a deal like it since Jonathan Ross was getting millions a year from the BBC to host his chat show.”

One of the other major benefits of this deal for Dermot is that there will still be opportunities in order for him to work on a wide array of other things during the off-season. That’s one of the great things about this job, especially for him: It’s hardly a year-round thing, and while there are many days that are extremely time-consuming, there are also many days that he will have off.

Bringing back Dermot is just one move in executive producer Simon Cowell’s plan to have more of a status quo on this upcoming season. He spent a great deal of time at one point trying to change the show or appeal to a younger demographic, but at the same time he also altered the tone of the show more than he really needed to.

This new season will premiere later this summer on ITV.
