‘Major Crimes’ season 5, episode 4 review: Flynn, Provenza, and a pool
It has to really stink when you are planning a big move, and you have to deal with some like a body floating in the pool. Of course, we still think we’re low-balling the sentiment that was there for Andy Flynn throughout much of Monday night’s new episode of “Major Crimes.”
In some ways, maybe you could call this hour a series of unfortunate events for Andy, since he did manage to follow up this revelation by a series of repeated occasions of foot-in-mouth when it comes to his relationship with Sharon. Luckily, he was able to work most of that out over the course of the episode, and if you love the Andy character, he had a number of great moments with both Rusty and Provenza, as well.
Also, what we learned tonight from Julio Sanchez is that he wants to foster the child involved in tonight’s story! Maybe this is will be polarizing since it seems a little bit random, but if his heart is into it, who are we to say it’s a bad decision? We’re just not sure how it works in terms of the story just yet.
Want a couple more odds and ends? Then here we go:
1. Hobbs is amazing. We’d be more than fine to have her involved even more than she is.
2. Did we have both the dumbest explanation for throwing someone in the pool ever tonight and also the dumbest dentist in human history?
Ultimately, there were some silly moments in tonight’s episode, but also some humor and a few touching character scenes to boot. It’s not going down in history for being the best mystery the show has ever done, but we may have been entertained by some of the characters (see Provenza and Andy) than we’ve been in a while. Grade: B.
