‘The Last Ship’ season 3, episode 5 preview: A key Chandler surprise

Sunday night’s new episode of “The Last Ship” is coming soon. What’s the good news? That Chandler, Slattery, and many other characters are still alive. Unfortunately, that may be the only good news. The Nathan James is surrounded by mines, and back in St. Louis Michener has metaphorical mines to deal with over his diplomacy.

So where do we go from here? How do these characters press on? It’s a difficult road ahead, and mistakes are unfortunately expected in some ways. The problem is that these mistakes can sometimes put your team’s lives on the line.

According to TV Guide, one of the most controversial decisions that Eric Dane’s character has made is coming on Sunday’s episode. Specifically, he makes it out of emotion rather than out of the best interest for his crew. What unfolds from here could be tricky, dangerous, and in the end depressing if it leads to the end of the road for someone. The site teases that it could change the dynamic of the Nathan James forever, so you have to ponder what that could be.

Will there be a chance for Chandler to turn it around? A glimmer of hope exists, largely due to how much story there is to tell this season. Plus, as a whole Chandler tends to think with his head when it comes to the good of the crew. If he makes a mistake, we hope he will be cognizant enough to realize it and work to correct it as soon as humanly possible.
