‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ spoilers: ‘A Gifted Man’ alum signs on to be new regular
NBC is slowly starting to plan out what they want for “The Blacklist: Redemption,” even though the spin-off does not premiere until at some point in the new year.
Today, that means casting Adrian Martinez. According to a new report from Deadline, Martinez (who has appeared on such shows as “A Gifted Man” and “Inside Amy Schumer”) is going to be appearing in a major way on the upcoming season as a regular. Specifically, he will play the part of Dumond, an intelligent hacker who has a little bit of a complicated past and is capable of getting what he wants in almost any situation.
This is a role that Martinez played in an episode of the original show that aired in the late spring, so take this as yet another example of the spin-off really working to draw from the original. They have already brought over Mr. Solomon from that universe, and the same goes for Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen). Ryan Eggold is going to topline the series as Tom Keen, and this show will feature a potential partnership between Scottie and Tom as they work to unravel some new mysteries and conspiracies.
Will there be some more tie-ins between this show and the original? It would only make a little bit of sense to see some old faces from the criminal world here, mostly because we have learned that this is a relatively small world where many people all know each other. Ultimately, we’ll just have to see what happens.
