‘Madam Secretary’ season 3 photo: First look at the table read!

We’re at that time of year again where many of your favorite shows start to get back to work, and for the latest example, you don’t have to look any further than “Madam Secretary.”

In the photo below from executive producer Lori McCreary’s Twitter account, you can see the first read-through for the season! This is always key preparation for filming, and it basically means that by the time the July 4 holiday is over, everyone is going to be pretty intensely into work on the third season. This is a show in particular with a lot to address in the early going, beginning with the cliffhanger revolving Elizabeth “Bess” McCord getting an offer that could in some ways expand her political career.

Should she want it? That is really an interesting question, since it’s a debate of the title versus the responsibility. Many perceive being Secretary of State as a job where you can get your hands dirty more in political affairs, but the Vice-Presidency is a cushier title and it could lead to more opportunities beyond just this administration. We’ve already made our personal thoughts here clear, mostly in that we think the show is titled “Madam Secretary” and is better off being just that, especially since there aren’t many other political dramas out there that focus on this particular position in particular.
