See Jessica Williams say goodbye to ‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’

Daily Show -The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” didn’t exactly give us just a whole lot of notice when it comes to the departure of Jessica Williams from the show. It was announced earlier this week, and Thursday night was the last chance that we had to see her do a segment.

To go along with a piece, Trevor also brought her out at the end of the show to show a highlight reel of some of her best moments, coupled with Jordan Klepper, Hasan Minhaj, Roy Wood, Jr., Desi Lydic and Ronny Chieng all offering up a little bit of a tribute themselves (which really just turned out to be them wanting her office). It was funny, and a nice little send-off to someone who is looking into doing some other projects. We still imagine that there’s a chance, even if it is just a guest spot, that we see her on this show again in the future.

It’s interesting that this show in particular is notable for giving such emotional goodbyes. John Oliver’s exit from the show was particularly teary-eyed when it happened, and we also got super-sad saying goodbye to Samantha Bee and Rob Corddry when they first left the show. The reason for this is simply a matter of the amount of time and effort that some of these correspondents put into their job. You can tell that they really care, and seeing them get emotional of course makes us in turn emotional.

With Williams, our sadness at seeing her go is escalated a little bit simply because we were one of the people interested in seeing if she would be Jon Stewart’s replacement at the time in which he left the show.
