‘Shameless’ season 7 spoilers: ‘Quantico’ actor signs up for guest spot

With the seventh season of “Shameless” premiering a little bit earlier than usual (as in, later this year), the folks behind the scenes at the Showtime series have had to get the ball rolling a little bit faster when it comes to getting some casting information out there.

With that, we’re happy to report on the following news. Tate Ellington, recently known for playing Simon on the first season of “Quantico,” has booked an arc on “Shameless” playing who TVLine describes as Chad, an employee of the company responsible for owning Patsy’s Pies. He will do whatever he can in order to persuade Fiona (Emmy Rossum) to stay on as manager of the establishment.

We’re certainly interested in this role and happy that Ellington ultimately landed the gig; now that we’ve said that, though, the one thing that we would humbly request for the show moving forward is that they somehow figure out a way to make Chad interesting without having him be another Fiona love interest. While it makes some sort of sense that someone with her abandonment issues and in her age bracket to be looking for relationships often, we feel like she’s been through enough at this point and experienced enough things to make her realize that this could be time for a change, and to see the world in a different way. Single Fiona is a hope for many fans out there!
