‘Daredevil’ star Jon Bernthal ready for ‘Punisher’ spin-off to happen

We know that there is going to be a spin-off to Netflix’s “Daredevil” focusing exclusively on the character of Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher played by Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead”); for now, the real question is just when it is going to happen.

In speaking to Deadline in a new Emmy-oriented interview about the state of things with this new series, for the time being this is what he had to say:

“I’m tremendously excited about it. I look at it as a real joy and a real responsibility and a real honor to play Frank Castle. I feel like he’s in my bones now and he’s in my heart. I’m ready to keep going with him. As far as what this show’s going to be, and what it’s going to be about, and when it’s going to shoot, and where it’s going to shoot and all that, unfortunately I don’t know anything. It’s kind of part and parcel with the way that Marvel works. Information is definitely on a need to know basis. I am nervous, and I just want to do this character and this world justice.”

The reason for the wait in our mind is mostly that for now, the priority seems to be getting set for “Iron Fist,” and then after that “The Defenders” and then season 2 of “Jessica Jones.” After that, we could see a “Punisher” series coming before “Daredevil” season 3, but there is also the future for these other characters to think about. For now, we suppose that the best news we have is merely that it is happening.
