‘Preacher’ episode 5 review: Fiore and DeBlanc deliver some bad news
Tonight over on AMC’s “Preacher,” we had a chance to see precisely what happened once Jesse Custer started to realize the true scope of his powers. Let’s just say here that with great power comes … great power. Or, it really just means that there are some other people who are going to be royally screwed by his actions.
As it turns out, the same goes for Fiore and DeBlanc, who waited a wee bit too late to inform Jesse of the truth about where they are from, and that the power within him was not coming from God, as he had previously thought. For Custer, he had to fell royally screwed over by this and understandably so, since he thought this was just an extension of God’s work when it was instead an entirely different power. Also, Odin was causing some major problems elsewhere, and that is really putting it lightly.
Over in the Tulip / Cassidy department, watching this relationship develop is incredibly entertaining, mostly because of the chemistry, the challenges, and a variety of other great stuff. Sure, we do have Tulip proclaiming that she already has someone … but how long will that last? How long will that back-and-forth go on? There are mostly questions with these two, and for the most part, the majority of them are fun.
As a whole, we’re willing to say that this was the best “Preacher” episode since the pilot, at least in terms of giving you about a ton of crazy stuff in a very short period of time. We’re certainly moving things to another level quickly! If the tone of the show stays the same throughout, we’ll be thrilled by the finale.
