‘Lucifer’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Dexter,’ ‘Rush Hour’ alum set as new series regular

Even though Aimee Garcia’s “Rush Hour” was recently canceled, she is not going to be out of work for too long!

Today, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Garcia will be a series regular for the second season of “Lucifer” on Fox, playing the part of a forensics scientist named Ella Lopez. She is a “quirky” character with a tough side who is used to being around people in law enforcement, in part because of a tough upbringing and also growing up around five brothers in Detroit. She also is someone who could prove herself to be an asset to Lucifer and many other members of the team.

In a sense, we do find it fun and ironic that Garcia is in forensic science on this show, given that we know her best for “Dexter” and this is at least reasonably similar to the blood-splatter work that Dexter Morgan did for Miami Metro. Also, we feel like a showdown between Dexter (pre-lumberjack) and Lucifer would be really entertaining.

The new season of the show will air on Fox Monday nights after “Gotham”; this schedule structure worked for the show for most of its first season, so clearly the network doesn’t feel much of a need to change anything up now.
