‘The Leftovers’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Birdman’ actress joins in mystery role

The third season of “The Leftovers” is filming in Australia, and while you may have to wait until the new year to see these episodes air, the good news is that there’s no reason to wait nearly as long to get some of the latest casting scoop!

Unfortunately, this one remains a little bit of an enigma. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lindsay Duncan of “Birdman” and “Rome” fame is going to play an important character … and that’s it. Did you really think that HBO, otherwise known as one of the most secretive networks out there, would be willing to hand down more information that that? Well, you thought wrong!

Many of the show’s familiar faces are going to be moving away from Miracle National Park this coming season, and based on what we had there, it’s understandable why they would want to leave. One of the largest mysteries that we have right now is merely what the show is going to be planning to do when it comes to bucking expectations. Season 2 may be one of our favorite seasons of any show in years; not only that, but “International Assassin” is probably one of our top five favorite episodes of any show ever created. This is a tough reputation to live up to, and given that we did not necessarily think season 1 was the best, there is a little bit of wiggle room for the show to bounce around in a variety of different directions.
