‘MasterChef’ season 7, episode 4 exclusive preview: Scallops under pressure
Wednesday night’s “MasterChef” episode is right around the corner, and we’re back once again with an exclusive preview of what to expect.
At the end of this past episode, Nathan and Terry were the two standouts from the Elimination Challenge themed all around replicating a Gordon Ramsay dish; from here, they not have the challenge of leading a team in a difficult setting away from the kitchen. Specifically, we’re talking about a wedding! We suppose that being able to lead a team is something that any MasterChef winner has to be able to do, but we wonder on a game level if there is a disadvantage that comes from taking on the captaincy so early. You don’t really know the other competitors very well, and you have the added pressure of trying to suss out their strengths and weaknesses in an incredibly short period of time. It’s a challenge to figure that out, and not an easy one for the home cooks to conquer unless you are brimming with confidence.
In this preview below, Nathan seems frantic as he tries to plate some scallops to hungry wedding guests, and it’s easy to worry about his short-term viability as a result. He’s the youngest person in the competition, he was on the bottom in the first Mystery Box challenge, and he has to figure out a way to convince people who are much older than him that his advice is worthy of being listened to. That’s going to be tough, and we also feel like he may not have a whole lot of experience cooking in large groups.
Whichever team loses this challenge has to face the “dreaded pressure test” (isn’t it always said with the word “dreaded” before it?), and we know nobody wants to do that.
