Cable ratings: ‘Devious Maids’ season 4 falls; ‘UnREAL’ season 2 holds up

Devious Maids

While we’re not entirely sure that we are going to be presenting ratings for Lifetime’s Monday-night lineup for the remainder of the season, we submit that for now, there’s something fascinating about seeing if they can old up in an era of declining ratings, especially when there is so much heavy competition on the air. For example, Monday night both “UnREAL” and “Devious Maids” were up against the NBA Finals, which have been posting some huge numbers as of late.

How did the two ultimately fare? Read on to find out…

“Devious Maids” – The Marc Cherry produced drama end up slipping slightly in its second episode, falling to a 0.3 rating after spending the premiere week at a 0.4. This still makes it the network’s #1 original drama on the night, but we’re not going to pretend as though this is the sort of rating that is worthy of jumping up and down about just yet. After all season 4 is down at present more than 20% from season 3, and we want to see some sort of future assured here.

“UnREAL” – Meanwhile, the second episode here at least stayed steady with a 0.2 rating; not only that, but it improved by a good 20,000 viewers versus the first episode. Still, you cannot pretend that the ratings are anything other than low, but at least fans can breathe easy since Lifetime has already renewed the series for a third season. There’s nothing at present to worry about … we’ll see if that lasts.
